Extinguishing the Flames of Gaslighting

Gaslighting is when someone manipulates another person by making them doubt their own perception of reality. This can lead the victim to feel confused and as though they are losing their sanity.

In order to escape from a situation where someone is manipulating or deceiving you (referred to as being in a "gas light"), it is important to recognize your own feelings, thoughts, perceptions, and reality as valid and deserving of attention. It is crucial to realize that the reality being presented to you by either yourself or someone else is false, while the true reality is different from what is being portrayed.


1. Take time to reflect on your feelings: Start by acknowledging your emotions and giving them space to be felt. This will help you understand yourself better and recognize patterns in your thoughts and behaviors.


2. Trust your perceptions: Your perceptions are your own and are valid. Don't doubt them or let anyone else question them. Remember that your perception of reality is shaped by your experiences and is unique to you.
